Hey! Wanted to share some encouragement from my devotions today. These are quoted from the devotional Living in the Face of Ridicule by Rand Hummel. My Sunday School class is doing this book together.
1 Peter 5:6-7- “Humble yourselves therefore under the might hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon Him; For He careth for you.”
So here are some quotes I liked from the book. I’m not gonna bother put quote marks.
I must humbly place myself in total submission to [God’s] authority and live in total dependence on His power adn protection by trustion in Him and Him alone.
As the worthless one [Satan] pushed my heart towards mutiny and treason, I can only wrestle with such attacks with humility and trust.
It is quite difficult to have a submissive attitude without a humble heart.
Humility does not insist on its own way, but is meek, lowly, and gentle.
Humility patiently without whining or complaining.
Humility towards others gives evidence of true humility towards God.
God’s might hand controls the thermostat of the fiery trials we face.
God’s timing is perfect. God’s timing doesn’t always mesh with ours.
We should never pray for God to take us “out” of trials and persecutions but to get us “through” them.
God knows how long to keep us int he midst of testing to strengthen us and keep us depending on Him.
God deserves total trust.
Combine the truth that God’s might hand is in control with the fact that He cares and you’ll see that it is quite silly to think we can try to handle our problems without God.
I hope this was an encouragement! I would totally recommend this book, as it deals with a lot more of biblical living than just ridicule.

I kind of think it is okay for us to ask God to take us out of trials and persecutions. Jesus did that himself in the Garden of Gethsemane. He did not want to go through the trial he knew he was about to face.
