Verses of the Week

Hey, everyone! Since I’ve not been posting super often, I haven’t done Verse of the Week in a while. I wanted to share something from some sermon notes I did my devotions on recently.

Galatians 2:17-21

17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

These are some of the notes I took.

The true gospel changes lives without the deeds of the law. Divine grace is God doing something for me that I can’t do. Jesus didn’t die so you could earn your salvation. He already. Adding works to grace makes it no longer grace. Because of God’s grace, I should work to serve God first in my life, with full sincerity.  The purpose of the law was to show that you’d fail. We need Christ. We can’t meet God’s perfect standard; we must have grace. Why depend on what you can’t achieve for your salvation? If people can change the gospel, how many “gospels” would there be? And how can they all be true? God created the Gospel, so we should let the Bible, His Word, define it.

Romans 3:23-24

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Romans 6:23

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:21

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Philippians 2:5-8

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Jesus is God. He died to take the punishment for sin that we all deserve so that we can have a relationship with God and one day go to Heaven. He is the only way. You con’t be saved by your works or anything else!

Acts 4: 12

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

We as sinners need a Savior and that is Christ alone. Have you experienced this? Then how is it working in your life?
