A BIG Praise and Verse of the Month

Hey, girls! I’m sorry I’ve been neglecting this area of my blog. I’ve decided to change it to Verse of the Month since that’s about how often I post it anyway. But before we get into the verse, I have a SUPER BIG praise! My Uncle Scott got saved recently and our family just went to his baptism on Sunday!!!!!!! I am so happy! This is a great answer to prayer and thanks to everyone who prayed for him.

Aaaand, my super cool friends got me an awesome notebook for my graduation, which I write down encouraging verses and notes in, which gives me ideas for what to tell you guys about in my Verse of the Week/Month posts!

Anyway,

Psalm 145: 18-19

“The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry and will save them.”

In order for God to give us what we ask for, it has to be according to His will. The same with our desires. God won’t give us something we desire if the thing we want is outside of His will for us. We must seek to have things brought about God’s way. Sometimes the answer isn’t “no,” but “wait.” To get closer to God, pray, telling you seek to know Him better. (James 4:8)

Verse of the Week

Hey! It’s been a little bit since I’ve done one of these. Sadly, they’re more like Verse of the Month at this point.

Psalm 119:133 “ Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.”

A friend sent this verse to me and I just found it really encouraging. We don’t want sin to have power over us. How do we take power over it? By being in God’s Word and letting His Word be the guide for our lives. It teaches that we need to be “strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power.” (Col. 1:11) It’s not our own strength. It’s in God’s. We must pray and ask for His power for victory over sin.

Verse of the Week

Wow, they just redesigned WordPress again!

Well, I think I know what verse I need to post because I just caught myself complaining.

Philippians 2:14 “Do all things without murmurings and disputings.”

I really need to work on this myself. It’s so easy to get caught up in either of these, especially if you have siblings. But that’s not an excuse. We can’t choose how others act, only how we do. Living in America, I know that I personally am so blessed! God has given me a wonderful family and friends, plenty of possessions, conveniences and food. But most importantly, He gave His life so that I could be saved from my sin. He offers this free gift to anyone who will have faith in Him. We don’t earn it by doing good. It’s fully by His grace! I didn’t have to do anything to merit His grace, or it wouldn’t be grace! Considering all this, I have no good reason whatsoever to complain. I need to “Count my blessings.” Thanksgiving is coming up. We have a plaque that says, “Thanksgiving is one day. Thanks Living is all year long.” Now about, disputing. Dispute means to argue about something or discuss something heatedly. Now, all you with siblings probably know how easy this can be. But God wants us to act lovingly toward one another. If we actually stopped to think about what we were fighting about, we would probably realize that it doesn’t actually matter. Eventually, everything in this world will be destroyed, when Christ returns and makes the new Heaven and new earth. The things here don’t last forever and life is too short to argue over stupid stuff. Your heavenly rewards (if you have trusted Christ as your Savior) will be far greater if you choose not to fight than if you prove the fact that Harry was wearing round glasses, not square ones. (Yeah, Harry Potter example. I’ve never actually fought over that. Haha.) Hm hm! Back to the point. If we pray for God to help and are conscious of the fact that we struggle with this, if we do, that we will stop doing these so much. (I speak for myself!) I hope this encouraged you. Sorry it was a little long.

Verse of the Week

Hi! I just started working with the four and five year olds on Wednesday nights at church again! They are so cute! This is their memory verse for the month.

Deuteronomy 21:9b- “Do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.”

God sees what we do, and with His help, we can do right. Pray with faith for God to help you, then strive to do right! 🙂

My Trip

Hey, y’all! Happy Memorial Day! Just wanted to let y’all know that I’m going to the Creation Museum and I won’t be back till Friday. I won’t post till I get back but I’m bringing a doll with me and will hopefully get some good pics. I’m not sure which doll I’m bringing yet. So, anyway, have a good week and I’ll hopefully get a post up next weekend. Oh, and here’s a verse of the week. Man, am I grateful for it!

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Praise God that since He sacrificed Himself, anyone can have eternal life through faith in Him!

Verse of the Week

Hey, girls! I’m going to share my current fave verse.

“My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.” -Psalm 73:26

I love this verse because it talks about how we need to rely on God, and even when we are weak, He’s strong. We can’t deal with problems or fight sin in our own strength. We need God’s help, and He’s always there to faithfully give it. Praise Him!

Verses of the Week

Hey, girls! I came across these verses today while reading and paid more attention to them than I have in the past.

Proverbs 16: 14, 27-29 –

“The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it. An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.  A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.  A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.”

So, these I took these verse to apply to how I use my tongue. It says an ungodly man digs up evil. He goes around intentionally looking for trouble. He uses his words to stir up trouble and cause fighting. This can make people mad, and break up friendships. Rather than be like the ungodly man, we should be like the wise man who pacifies anger. This definitely applies to relationships with siblings. I know how easy it can be to be annoying on purpose, and I know how mad you can get when a sibling acts this way. We should use our words, not to stir up trouble, but to edify and encourage, and we should be patient and kind when we get annoyed. This is wise and godly. If you think about it, I would appreciate prayer in this area. 🙂

Verse of the Week and News

Hi, girls. Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days. First we’ll have the verse of the week, then a message from Shayne.

Proverbs 24:16-  “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”

We’re destined to do wrong things. That’s the truth. We’re human. But the thing is what we do with the sins we commit. When we sin, we should ask God’s forgiveness and the forgiveness of those we have sinned against. We shouldn’t wallow in our sin and guilt. Satan has 2 lies he tries to trick Christians with. The first one is that you can sin once and it won’t hurt you. Then, once you sin, he’ll try to get you to believe that you might as well keep on sinning, because God won’t forgive you and use you now. Neither of these things are true. No matter how much you sin, you can receive forgiveness from God. Just confess it to Him and “get up” again and do right. If you confess your sin, He is faithful and just to forgive you your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9).

Now, a message from Shayne:

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Hey, people, it’s Shayne. Sorry about the bad lighting, first of all.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

As you can tell from this picture, I’m wearing a cast. I’m doing this for sympathy pain for Mom, because she got her bunion surgery today.

Mom’s surgery was successful and she’s doing pretty well. Here’s her foot.

This picture is really random. Mom used a photo edit thing for this pic of Lorie. I personally think it’s pretty cool.

Ok, now back to Mom.

Hey, it’s Morgan again. As Shayne told you, my surgery went well, and my foot only hurts a bit. Thanks to everyone for their prayers. 😀
