These verses were the topic of the sermon at church this morning. The message was about the women in the genealogy of Jesus. There are four mentioned in Matthew 1. Verse five says, “And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse.” The women metioned in this verse are Rachab (Rahab) and Ruth. Verse six says, “And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias.” The wife of Urias was Bathsheba. These ladies all had unfortunate backgrounds. Rahab and Bathsheba were both immoral women, and Ruth was a widow from a pagan culture. But God chose to use these women to lead up to Jesus’ birth. Once they chose to follow God, He used them and after they followed God, they were only spoken well of. This goes to show you that no matter your background, and no matter what you have done, God can and will forgive you. No matter what you have done, God can use you for His glory. I hope this is an encouragement. π

Hi, Josie! Thanks! I figure that one way of using my blog to honor the Lord is by using the Bible. And so, I’m able to use my love of dolls to be a witness! π
